Developer Relations & Product Marketing Manager

At AppSignal we're looking for a Developer Relations & Product Marketing Manager to join our team.
Full-time · Remote, within 2 hours of CET

AppSignal is a developer-focused platform building enriched context stores and insights about monitored applications, services, and infrastructure for deeply technical audiences. We are a remote-first company that helps thousands of teams in 60+ countries monitor and improve the performance of their applications.

We’re looking for a technically curious, hacker- and community-first-minded storyteller to help us reach developers with a nuanced take on what’s possible with AppSignal as part of their toolset.

This is a hybrid Developer Relations and Product Marketing role for someone who wants to do more than talk about technology. You’ll prototype new ideas and applications, explore emerging developer technologies and workflows, create technical content, engage with our community, and bring an expert voice to the best practices and technical context we provide developers.

Just as importantly, you’ll act as a bridge between the developer ecosystem and AppSignal — bringing what you’re learning from your experiments, conversations, and research back to Product and Engineering to help inform our roadmap.

This role reports directly to the Chief Product Officer and works closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Success, and our developer community.

We’re looking for somebody within two hours of the Central European Time (CET) time zone for this role.

What You’ll Do

Explore, prototype, and experiment

  • Research emerging developer technologies, tools, and workflows, including the latest changes in AI-assisted and developer agent-based workflows

  • Prototype new ideas, applications, integrations, and use cases

  • Experiment with new ways developers can use AppSignal as part of their development toolset

  • Build demos and proofs-of-concept

Create compelling developer-focused content

  • Create high-quality technical content including tutorials, demo applications, blog posts, videos, livestreams, product walkthroughs, release education, technical videos, and observability best practices

  • Develop interesting and differentiated narratives around AppSignal, observability, developer workflows, and emerging technologies

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure technical accuracy, credibility, and depth

  • Be the face of AppSignal to  developers, creators, technical communities, and industry voices

Build and grow our developer community

  • Represent AppSignal across online communities, conferences, webinars, podcasts, events, and other developer-focused channels

  • Engage with developers across multiple channels including GitHub, Reddit, Discord, LinkedIn, YouTube, X/Twitter, Hacker News, and community forums

  • Identify developers, creators, and technical voices AppSignal should know

Uplevel our team

  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders across Product, Support, Sales and Marketing

  • Bring a positive team player mindset to be deeply accountable, and celebrate wins across teams

  • Bring transparency to the work you do and a willingness to share your expertise

A Day in the Life

There probably won’t be a typical day in this role — and that’s part of the appeal. You might spend the morning researching changes in developer agent-based workflows and prototyping an idea with AppSignal. Later, you could record a video about what you built, meet with developers in the community, or turn an experiment into a technical article.

You’ll also bring what you’re learning back to Product and Engineering, helping us think about where developer workflows are headed and what that could mean for AppSignal. We expect high autonomy and self organization, attention to detail in this role, paired with an urgency to make an impact.

What We’re Looking For

Technical curiosity and a hacker mindset

  • Demonstrable experience in Developer Relations, Developer Marketing, Technical Product Marketing, Solutions Engineering, or a similar developer-facing role

  • A reasonable history of visible projects and git commits

  • Comfortable with AI, APIs, GitHub, developer tools, and building applications

  • Interest in the latest research and papers in a fast-evolving industry

A strong technical storyteller

  • Ability to communicate credibly with deeply technical audiences

  • Able to turn technical concepts and product capabilities into interesting, useful narratives

  • Written, video, or verbal portfolio of work that shows how you like to explain both what something does and why a developer should care

  • Developer-first approach to messaging, positioning, and content

Comfortable creating and connecting

  • Experience creating technical written, video, demo, or social content

  • Comfortable on camera and presenting technical ideas

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Enjoys building genuine relationships within technical communities

Nice to have

  • Experience working in B2B SaaS, developer tooling or platforms

  • Familiarity with observability, APM, OpenTelemetry, monitoring, or infrastructure tooling is highly preferred

  • Experience with AI coding tools, agents, LLM APIs, MCP, or agentic developer workflows

  • Experience speaking at technical events or conferences and creating technical videos, livestreams, podcasts, or developer-focused social content

  • Experience working in startups or high-growth environments

  • Existing relationships with developer and creator communities, and influencers is a huge plus!

Why This Role Matters

The way developers build software is changing quickly. AI-assisted development, developer agents, and new workflows are changing what developers expect from their tools — and opening up new possibilities for observability.

We want to explore those changes, not just talk about them.

You’ll help us experiment with what’s next, share what we learn with developers, and bring what you’re seeing in the community back into AppSignal. You’ll have a hand in both how we show up in the developer ecosystem and how those insights influence what we build next.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary tailored to your location, experience, and skills

  • Remote-first work culture with support for co-working if preferred

  • Flexible and generous PTO (Paid Time Off) policy

  • Personal development budget for books, courses, equipment, conferences, or other items that help you grow

  • Flexible employment setup: You’ll be hired directly by AppSignal, through an Employer of Record (EOR), or as a long-term contractor; whichever makes the most sense for your location and preferences

A welcoming company

We’re a team of kind, curious people from different backgrounds, each bringing unique strengths (and yes, a few quirks too). We’d love for you to add yours.

We welcome candidates of all backgrounds, genders, orientations, ethnicities, ages, and abilities. If you’re looking for a place to do your best work and know your contributions are valued, you’ll feel right at home here.

If you’re curious but unsure whether you’re a good fit, we encourage you to apply anyway. We value potential and perspective and would hate to miss out on a great teammate because you doubted yourself.
